David Woods, PhD

Up one level
Professor, Neurology and Clinical Neuropsysiology
Email: dlwoods@ucdavis.edu

Dr. Woodss research group studies the organization of human auditory cortex using fMRI and ERP techniques with the long-term objective of characterizing the functional properties of human auditory cortical fields (HACFs?) and elucidating how HACFs? support auditory cognition. Because of their small size, HACFs? present a particular challenge to brain imagers, so new tools are developed for visualizing and quantifying activations on the cortical surface (e.g., CLEAVE). Other research approaches include behavioral and neuropsychological studies of auditory and visual processing, EEG/ERP investigations of higher cognitive functions, and the development of PC-based portable workstations to assist in diagnosis and rehabilitation of neurological and cognitive disabilities.
